Hot Cross Buns

INGREDIENTS

  • 3/4Cup Warm Water
  • 1/4Cup White sugar
  • 3Cup Cake Flour
  • 3/4Cup Dried Currants
  • 1/2Cup Icing sugar
  • 3Tbsp Butter
  • 1Tbsp Milk Powder
  • 1Tsp Salt
  • 1Tbsp Dry yeast
  • 1Tsp Cinnamon
  • 2Tsp Milk
  • 1/4Tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 Egg Yolk
  • 1 Egg White

PROCEDURE

Warm water,butter,milk powder,sugar,salt,egg,egg white & yeast together & knead the dough.When you are just about to complete kneading, ad currants. Make dough while punching.Leave it for a 15 minutes.

Shape it into balls & place in a greased tray.Cover & let them rise in a warm place so that yeast can make its action.Leave it for more than 30 minutes.

Mix egg yolk & 2 Tbsp Water.Brush on balls.Bake at 190 degree celcius for 20 minutes.Cool on a wire rack.

To make crosses,mix Icing Sugar,Vanilla extract & milk.Brush an X , or use a cone to make X on cooled bun.
