These are the butter cookies,formed into a variety of shapes.These can be a circle,coils or a figure of eight.These are sprinkled with almonds, but in some villages even with sesame seeds!
INGREDIENTS
- 2 Cup Butter
- 1 1/2 Cup White Sugar
- 1/2 Cup Milk
- 8 Cup Cake Flour
- 1 Egg
- 4Egg Yolk
- 2 tsp Baking Powder
- 1 tbsp Orange Zest
PROCEDURE
Sift Baking Powder & cake flour together & keep aside. In a large bowl mix cream,butter & sugar.Add 1 egg yolk at a time to wet mixture,beating well after each one,until all 4 eggs are incorporated.Add milk gradually & mix gently.
Gradually work dough with hands until it is pliable & smooth.Work in grated orange rind.Add additional flour to make dough stiff.Roll out small portions of dough into pencil size strips.Form desired coil,figure 8 or a circle.Place cookies on an ungreased baking sheet & brush tops with beaten eggs.Bake at 350 degree F for 18-20 minutes.
